Coterie Files Virginia BOP Update With Space Weather Exclusion

Spinnaker Insurance Company has filed revisions to its Coterie businessowners program in Virginia, including a new space weather exclusion and changes addressing subcontractor and delivery risks.

The program is sold through Coterie Insurance Agency’s online platform. The filing adopts updated ISO forms, rules, and loss costs, alongside proprietary endorsements and revised rating rules.

New forms include an exclusion for uninsured subcontractors, a subcontractor risk management condition, and a delivery exposure limitation for hired and non-owned auto liability. The filing also introduces an exclusion for bulkheads, pilings, piers, wharves, and docks, and updates assault and battery exclusions. A premium impact table covers 2,010 policies. Of those, 736 fall into decrease bands, while 884 fall in the 0%–5% increase band, with an average $6 increase. Another 390 fall into higher increase bands, including 57 with increases exceeding 30%. No overall percentage rate impact is provided.

Submitted October 5, the filing requests effective dates of January 1, 2027, for new business and April 1, 2027, for renewals. It remains pending.
