AXIS has filed a new commercial auto program in Hawaii for vehicles loaned or rented to dealership customers, primarily while their own vehicles undergo repairs.
The program would cover dealer-registered service loaner and rental vehicles, excluding dealer open lot inventory. AXIS submitted the filing on October 26 and requested a June 1, 2027 effective date. The filing remains pending.
Coverage would include comprehensive and collision protection, liability at applicable state minimum financial responsibility limits, and $1 million in liability coverage for damages arising from the negligence of the dealer or auto manufacturer.
The auto manufacturer would be the named insured, with franchised dealers added as additional named insureds under its policy.
The program contemplates vehicles garaged throughout the United States. AXIS would rate primary negligence liability separately for New York exposures, citing materially higher costs in that state.
