American National To Withdraw Specialty Renters Program In Kansas

American National Property and Casualty Company is exiting its Specialty Renters program in Kansas.

The move covers a full withdrawal of the program, including all associated rates, rules, and forms, under the company’s Homeowners-PMC renters line.

The insurer submitted a withdrawal plan with required policyholder communications, including pre-nonrenewal and nonrenewal notices. No actuarial support was included, as the filing reflects a program exit rather than a rate change.

The company reported approximately 431 in-force policies as of April 10, 2026, and about $150,847 in direct written premium in 2025.

All policies will be nonrenewed, starting with expirations around September 2, 2026, and running through August 31, 2027. Policyholders will receive a general notice followed by a formal nonrenewal notice at least 30 days before expiration.

The program was written through an independent general agent, which has identified a replacement carrier. Policyholders are being directed to secure new coverage through that channel, including online or by phone.
