American National filed plans to withdraw its Specialty Renters program in Virginia, with requested effective dates for new and renewal business beginning January 4, 2027.

According to the filing, the insurer had 10,219 in-force Specialty Renters policies as of April 10, 2026.

The filing, submitted on May 12, 2026, outlines the company’s withdrawal plan for the renters program. Supporting documents include a withdrawal memorandum, pre-nonrenewal client letter, and formal nonrenewal notice.

Correspondence included in the filing shows the Virginia Bureau of Insurance requested a formal SERFF filing to withdraw the program and asked the company to confirm which underwriting entity would apply in Virginia.

The correspondence also suggests the Specialty Renters program, tied to erenterplan.com, is being transferred to an American Modern Insurance Group carrier.
