Allstate Adds P2P Sharing Provisions to RV Insurance

Allstate Property and Casualty Insurance Company submitted a filing in Michigan to update its motor home policies in response to House Bills 5949, 5950, and 5951 related to peer-to-peer car sharing. The filing, submitted on April 23, 2025, introduces new definitions and exclusions for vehicles used in personal vehicle sharing programs.

The changes add explicit exclusions for bodily injury and property damage occurring while a motor home is rented, leased, or used as part of a vehicle sharing program. The updated language also introduces the concept of an “innocent co-insured” and clarifies cancellation terms, liability provisions, and coverage limits.

The filing applies to Allstate’s recreational vehicle (RV) product line and is scheduled to take effect for new business on September 22, 2025, and for renewals on October 23, 2025.
