Aioi Nissay Dowa Insurance Services USA, doing business as Mobility Data Analytics, has filed a new commercial auto telematics score in Texas.
The MDA Class 7-8 Score 1.0 evaluates driving behavior and produces a score designed to predict risk for Class 7 and 8 vehicles. Mobility Data Analytics plans to license the model to commercial auto insurers for use in underwriting and rating.
Insurers adopting the score will be responsible for operating their own telematics programs and submitting separate regulatory filings supporting its use.
The company requested confidential treatment for details covering the model’s development, data, variables, coefficients and validation. The filing was submitted on August 25 and requests an effective date upon approval.
Mobility Data Analytics previously obtained an advisory organization license in Oklahoma, although it reported having no members or subscribers as of December 2024. The Texas submission provides a clearer look at the product it plans to offer insurers.
Bottom Line: Aioi Nissay Dowa’s data unit is taking its telematics scoring capabilities to the heavy commercial vehicle market.
