The Cincinnati Insurance Company has filed for a 6.9% homeowners insurance rate increase in California.
The proposed revision would affect 2,993 policyholders and generate approximately $3.9 million in additional written premium. The company reported $56.4 million in current written premium for the program.
Individual policy impacts would range from 1.6% to 10.8%. Average annual premiums would increase from $18,840 to $20,138.
Cincinnati said it is revising territorial base rates for its owners’ forms. The company calculated an indicated rate increase of 11.2% but selected a lower increase of 6.9%.
The filing follows a previously approved 35% rate increase scheduled to take effect on August 1, 2026. If approved, the latest increase would take effect for new and renewal business on August 1, 2027.
The filing is pending review by the California Department of Insurance.
