Selective is introducing Temp Stick as a value-added service for businessowners policyholders in New Mexico.
The WiFi-connected device monitors pipe temperatures and alerts users to conditions that could cause pipes to freeze. Temp Stick, a product of Utah-based Ideal Sciences, provides real-time notifications through text, email and its mobile app.
Selective will offer the device at no cost, with no premium surcharge or discount tied to its use. According to the filing, the device costs the insurer approximately $100, equal to 1.9% of Selective’s average New Mexico businessowners premium of $5,067.
The service became effective July 17 and will not be used for underwriting purposes.
