Progressive’s Drive Insurance Company has filed for a 6.9% overall rate increase for its California personal auto program.

Submitted October 6, the filing reports 313,627 affected policyholders and approximately $914.1 million in written premium. Individual rate changes range from a 56.72% decrease to a 67.41% increase. The insurer’s indicated rate need is 30.4%.

The proposal revises base rates for liability and physical damage coverage. Drive is requesting an April 1, 2027 effective date for new and renewal business, or earlier upon approval.

The filing is pending California regulatory review.
