Progressive Adjusts Hawaii Motorcycle Rates

Progressive Advanced Insurance Company and Progressive Preferred Insurance Company have submitted updated rate filings for their Hawaii Motorcycle Program to comply with Senate Bill 234, which raises minimum liability limits across multiple coverage types.

Effective January 1, 2026, the revisions apply to Bodily Injury, Property Damage, GUEST, Uninsured Motorist, and Underinsured Motorist coverages. While classified as “neutral,” the filings are expected to modestly raise premiums: Progressive Advanced projects a 5.4% increase affecting 5,856 policyholders and adding $142,784 in written premium, while Progressive Preferred projects a 5.3% increase affecting 3,060 policyholders and adding $57,024. The filings introduce new limit tiers with adjusted factors, including 40/80, 50/100, and up to 500 CSL, to align with statutory requirements. An actuarial attestation by Michael C. Lange Jr., Senior Manager of Special Lines Pricing, confirms the filings meet regulatory standards and were developed using sound actuarial principles.
