Pie Files Workers’ Compensation Rate Increase in Michigan

Pie Insurance filed a 6.4% overall workers’ compensation rate increase in Michigan.

The filing would generate approximately $325,000 in additional written premium across 1,069 policyholders and $5.1 million in program premium. Individual changes would range from a 20% decrease to a 19.8% increase.

Pie is retaining its base loss cost multiplier of 1.58 while introducing class-specific multipliers ranging from 1.264 to 1.896. The company said the changes are intended to better align rates with the risk and emerging experience of different class-code groups.

The change follows a 4.7% rate decrease that took effect in January. The new rates are scheduled to take effect August 1, 2026.
