MedPro Launches BOP for Healthcare and Legal Offices in Texas

The Medical Protective Company and Wellfleet Insurance Company, both part of Berkshire Hathaway’s MedPro Group, filed a new Businessowners Policy (BOP) product in Texas that will target small healthcare and legal practices. The filing was submitted on June 21, with a requested effective date of September 1, 2026.

The ISO-based product is designed for businesses with annual revenue of up to $10 million at a single location. It can insure buildings valued at up to $10 million and business personal property of up to $5 million per location. MedPro said the new offering leverages its more than 100 years of experience insuring medical professionals and will allow it to cover professional office exposures for healthcare and legal businesses.

The package combines ISO forms with proprietary endorsements and includes optional coverages such as equipment breakdown, flood, identity recovery, crisis care response, employment practices liability, hired and non-owned auto liability, and cyber liability and breach response.

The filing also introduces industry-specific enhancements for healthcare professionals, including coverage for healthcare tools and equipment, business interruption from dependent properties, computer fraud and funds transfer fraud, employee dishonesty, and worldwide coverage for laptop computers and portable devices.

The companies said the new BOP product is intended to give them the ability to better serve small professional offices while leveraging their underwriting expertise in the healthcare sector.
