Markel filed a new Financial Services Protection insurance program in Idaho, introducing a modular professional liability product for financial services firms that combines multiple coverages under a single policy. The filing, submitted on August 3, 2026, is intended to become effective on August 1, 2026.
The claims-made policy is built around three primary insuring agreements covering investment advisers, professional service providers—including accounting firms and life and health insurance agencies—and directors and officers liability. It also includes supplementary payments for regulatory investigations and subpoenas, as well as pre-claim investigative expenses for wrongful acts that are reasonably expected to result in a claim.
The new platform can be customized through more than 80 optional endorsements spanning digital assets, cyber liability, employment practices liability, fiduciary liability, fintech services, venture capital, family offices, mortgage brokers, real estate professionals, funds transfer fraud, social engineering, and specialized coverage for registered representatives, investment adviser representatives, and mutual and private funds.
According to the filing, the program is designed to provide a single policy framework that can be tailored to a broad range of financial services businesses through optional coverages, endorsements, and supplemental applications.
