Lemonade Withdraws Homeowners Program in South Carolina

Lemonade Insurance Company has withdrawn its previously approved Homeowners Program in South Carolina, originally filed under SERFF Tracking #PERR-131967331.

The product was never released to market. The updated filing, approved on October 15, 2025, formally withdraws all associated forms, rates, and rules, including the Homeowners, Renters, and Condo policies, as well as related endorsements such as the Canine Liability Exclusion, Swimming Pool Exclusion, and Trampoline Exclusion.

According to the filing, Lemonade decided not to proceed with the launch after further analysis and strategic planning. The company noted that the forms, rates, and rules had never been implemented and that it is now developing a new Renters program aligned with current market needs and long-term goals.

“Upon further analysis and strategic planning, we have decided not to proceed with the launch of our originally proposed Homeowners program for which the filed documents were intended. As such, the forms, rates and rules associated with this program have never been implemented or utilized in any capacity. Moreover, we are actively engaged in the development of a new Renters program, which is tailored to meet current market demands and align with our long-term business goals.”

Earlier this year, Lemonade filed a new Renters program in North Carolina, which was approved with an effective date of June 17, 2025.

According to our analysis, Lemonade’s top home insurance markets are California with around 300,000 homeowners and New York with about 200,000.
