HSB Connecticut Withdraws Maryland Commercial Product Filings

The Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection and Insurance Company of Connecticut (HSB Connecticut) has asked Maryland regulators to withdraw or deactivate all of its approved commercial insurance product filings, including its Data Compromise product and equipment breakdown filings.

According to the filing, HSB Connecticut has no in-force policies in Maryland, meaning the withdrawal will not affect policyholders, existing contracts, or servicing obligations. The company said the request is intended to remove all forms, rates, underwriting manuals, and supporting materials from active use and prevent future business from being written under the entity.

The filing covers a broad range of historical approvals, including commercial inland marine data compromise products, equipment breakdown filings dating back to 2008, and commercial lines rules. HSB Connecticut said the move is designed to align its regulatory footprint with its current business strategy, reduce administrative complexity, and eliminate the possibility of inadvertently using legacy filings.

The company added that if Maryland does not formally process withdrawals of approved filings, it requests that the filings instead be designated as inactive or no longer in use.
