HSB Withdraws Identity Recovery Coverage in Idaho

The Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection and Insurance Company (HSB), part of Munich Re, has submitted a notice of withdrawal in Idaho for its Identity Recovery Coverage for Benefits product. The filing, submitted in April 2025, initiates a block nonrenewal effective September 1, 2025, or upon regulatory approval.

HSB introduced the product in Idaho in 2015, but cited a strategic shift in its cyber insurance approach as the reason for withdrawal. According to the filing, only one policyholder in the state is affected, with a total written premium of $225. A nonrenewal notice will be issued at least 45 days before the policy’s renewal date.

No migration to affiliate or non-affiliate carriers is planned. If regulatory approval is not received in time to meet the notice requirements, HSB will extend coverage for one additional term before fully exiting the program.
