Horace Mann Insurance Company and Teachers Insurance Company jointly filed an extensive systems modernization for their Wisconsin homeowners business. The update involves converting all policy data to a new rating platform, introducing revised territory factors, updated insurance score tiers, and standalone liability rates for three- and four-family dwellings.
The filing proposes a modest 2% overall rate effect, impacting 1,141 policyholders with $1.93 million in premium. It also removes the Preferred Home discount and switches credit score model vendors from FICO to TransUnion’s Property Insurance Score.
The companies, both domiciled in Illinois, cater primarily to educators. Additional revisions include a 90% employee/agent discount and a new Advance Quote discount for long-tenured policyholders. Past rate activity includes a 7.4% hike effective August 1, 2025, and a 30.3% increase for condos earlier that year.
Filing submitted February 10, 2026; new business effective January 4, 2027; renewals effective April 5, 2027.
