Guardian Files Automated Claims Option

Guardian Life has filed a rider in Kansas that would add automated claim submissions to its existing group critical illness, hospital indemnity and accident policies.

“This rider adds automated claims submissions as an additional method for submitting claims and includes information on how to elect this option,” the company states.

The proposal targets the process of accessing supplemental benefits. An automated submission option could reduce the administrative steps members face when seeking payments, although the supplied materials do not explain what triggers a submission, which data sources support it, or whether members must provide additional documentation.

The rider would supplement existing claim submission methods and would have no impact on rates, according to Guardian.

Submitted October 22, the filing requests an effective date upon approval and remains pending. The submission covers small and large group markets, including employer, association, trust and union groups.
