Farmers Connecticut Filing Highlights Nearmap for Aerial AI Risk Assessment

Farmers submitted a filing in Connecticut on February 22, 2026, to update homeowners underwriting guidelines for its Foremost Signature products. The changes take effect June 5, 2026, for new business and August 9, 2026, for renewals.

The revisions strengthen risk selection around wildfire exposure, roof age, and tree proximity. The company uses artificial intelligence and machine learning applied to high resolution aerial imagery to identify hazardous property conditions, with imagery and analytics provided by Nearmap.

“We run aerial image reports on all new customers, and not on specific segments of business. In the future, we may run reports on renewal customers. The imagery ensures fairness in the underwriting process: A roof in the city is evaluated by software using the same standards as one in either an affluent suburb, or a rural farming community.”

The update reflects a growing reliance on property level data and remote sensing to refine homeowners risk selection and underwriting decisions.
