American Modern Files Pet Insurance Rate and Rule Revisions in Georgia

American Modern Home Insurance Company filed to revise rates and rules for its Pet Insurance Program in Georgia, effective March 15, 2026, for both new and renewal business. The filing affects 10,576 policyholders and 14,830 pets, with $11.3 million in written premium. The overall rate impact is neutral.

Key updates include the introduction of a Claims History factor that accounts for the past three years of paid closed claims, replacing the previous Healthy Pet discounts. Breed and age/tenure relativities were revised, and base rates updated with no change to overall premium impact.

A Renewal Transition Plan limits premium increases to 20% and caps decreases at 0%. Clarifications were also made to rules for optional Medication and Physical Examination coverage.

The rating plan was developed using Generalized Linear Modeling (GLM) with data from Easy Analytic Software, Inc. (EASI), while competitor benchmarks included Pet’s Best (SERFF# IADC-132956399).

Discounts remain available for military members, multiple pets, affinity groups, employees, service dogs, and preferred partners, with a maximum combined discount of 25%.

The filing falls under the Inland Marine line of business and is part of Munich Re Group’s operations.
