American Modern introduced a new renters insurance program in Hawaii, according to a filing submitted on May 13, 2026. The filing includes new renters insurance and personal liability forms, endorsements, and rate revisions, with a requested effective date of November 11, 2026.

The Munich Re-owned insurer’s program includes optional endorsements for identity recovery, pet damage, water backup, biohazard clean-up, bed bug coverage, and credit card and forgery protection. Identity theft coverage includes up to $15,000 in annual aggregate reimbursement for expenses such as legal fees, lost wages, counseling, and credit report costs.

The filing also introduces Hawaii-specific provisions addressing domestic abuse, civil unions recognized under Hawaii law, and statutory parental liability. Coverage forms include exclusions tied to mold, communicable diseases, cannabis-related liability, pollution, professional services, and home-sharing activities.
