Allianz Launches Irrigation Pivot Program

AGCS Marine Insurance Company, part of Allianz, is rolling out a new insurance program covering center-pivot irrigation systems used by farming operations.

Filings have surfaced in Arkansas, Georgia, Kansas and South Dakota, with approvals already secured in Arkansas, Kansas and South Dakota. The Georgia filing remains pending.

The commercial inland marine program covers direct physical loss or damage to scheduled mobile agricultural machinery and equipment. Optional coverages include debris removal, extra expenses, equipment-protection costs, newly purchased equipment, pollutant cleanup, rental reimbursement, spare parts and fuel, and fire-protection system refills.

The policy can provide actual cash value or replacement cost coverage and requires insured property to be insured for at least 80% of its value to avoid a coinsurance penalty. Allianz can exclude water-related losses at specified locations or offer limited water coverage subject to separate deductibles, limits and an annual aggregate.

The program is scheduled to take effect in Arkansas, Kansas and South Dakota on September 15, 2026. Its countrywide rate manual lists 15 states, suggesting additional expansion may follow.

Bottom Line: The program addresses a growing need among agricultural policyholders who rely on these systems as critical infrastructure for crop production and farm viability.
