Jefferson Insurance Company, part of Allianz, has filed an expanded retail travel insurance program in Vermont.

The filing supplements Jefferson’s previously approved retail program with five base policies and 35 optional endorsements intended for new products. Existing forms and rates will remain available.

The lineup includes traditional coverages such as trip cancellation, trip interruption, baggage, emergency medical, emergency transportation and rental car damage, along with more specialized benefits covering missed activities, travel vaccinations, lost documents, electronic devices and accommodations that are not as booked.

A “Paw Protector” endorsement offers up to $5,000 each for emergency veterinary care and emergency pet transportation. Other options include up to $5,000 for property damage protection, sporting equipment, outside transportation and single-supplement expenses.

Products will be packaged and priced before being offered to consumers and may include non-insurance assistance services or cancellation-fee waivers. Coverage will be guaranteed issue, with customers required to opt in separately from the underlying travel purchase.

Consumers will be able to buy coverage online, by phone or through travel agents. Jefferson does not individually underwrite applicants, and children age 17 and younger may be covered at no additional cost under designated “Kids Are Free” products.

Allianz affiliate AGA Service Company will market and administer the program. Jefferson requested a February 2, 2027, effective date, contingent on receiving approval by November 3, 2026.

The filing, submitted July 20, remains pending with the Vermont Department of Financial Regulation.
