American Pet Insurance Company has submitted a rate and rule filing in Maryland for its Aflac Pet Insurance Powered by Trupanion product, requesting an overall 20% rate increase effective June 1, 2026.

The filing reflects an indicated need of 52.1%, with the company revising base rates as well as breed, age, and gender factors based on experience.

The update replaces existing underwriting rules and rating guidelines for the inland marine pet insurance program. The filing was submitted under a File and Use process and follows a prior 15% rate revision that took effect in January 2026.

No current written premium or policyholder impact was reported for the Maryland program at the time of submission.
