Universal North America Insurance Company has filed in Texas for a 9.8% overall rate increase on its homeowners program, impacting 14,007 policyholders and $23.8 million in written premium. The proposed changes include base rate increases across HO-A, HO-B, and HO-CON-B policies, along with higher minimum Coverage A limits and expanded binding authority up to $2 million.
The filing also updates insurance scoring rules to align with SB 1644, extending the reordering period from two to three years. This follows several recent rate hikes, including a 37.8% increase effective September 2024.
