United Fire Seeks Rate Increase for BOP-Pro Program in Kansas

United Fire & Casualty Company, part of United Fire Group, filed in Kansas to implement rate and rule revisions for its BOP-Pro (Businessowners Policy) program, citing the need for rate adequacy amid rising claim costs. The filing requests an overall rate increase of 13.4%, based on an indicated 37.4% rise, affecting 344 policyholders and $1.73 million in written premium.

Key updates include adjustments to Loss Cost Multipliers, SIC Group Factors, and a revised Predictive Model built with GLMs in SAS and Python. The updated model removes third-party variables such as hail risk and improved value calculations due to discontinued data access.

The last approved rate revision was a 15% increase effective October 2024.
