Root Seeks to Pass Along Full Rate Cuts in Florida

Root Florida Insurance Company has filed to remove a pricing rule that could keep customers from receiving the full benefit of its auto insurance rate cuts.

The existing rule limits how much company-initiated pricing changes affect customers’ premiums at renewal. That can soften increases, but it can also delay decreases.

Root says it is dropping the rule following concerns raised by Florida regulators and a recently implemented rate reduction. The change would allow customers to receive the full applicable reduction.

Root requested effective dates of October 8, 2026, for new policies and November 10, 2026, for renewals. The filing does not change coverage.

Root reported more than 52,000 Florida policyholders on August 27, 2026.
