Pronto Prohibits Tesla, Rivian and Polestar in Texas

Pronto General Agency is updating the underwriting guidelines for its Texas private passenger auto program, underwritten by Redpoint County Mutual Insurance Company. The filing was submitted August 6, with an effective date of August 8 for new and renewal business.

Under the updated guidelines, Tesla, Rivian and Polestar are prohibited from all coverages. The list also includes a number of luxury, exotic and specialty brands, including Aston Martin, Bentley, Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren, Porsche and Rolls-Royce.

Pronto also won’t accept vehicles with an actual cash value of $60,000 or more, vehicles more than 60 years old for liability coverage or more than 40 years old for physical damage, or vehicles with flood damage, significant non-cosmetic damage or certain modifications.

The program is designed for vehicles and drivers residing at the policy’s Texas household address. Commercial use, including passenger transportation and delivery work, is prohibited.

Pronto offers one-, two-, three- and six-month policies. The shorter terms must be paid in full, while six-month policies can be paid in full or through an installment plan.
