Pharmacists Mutual Seeks Major Commercial Auto Rate Increase In Texas

Pharmacists Insurance Company and Chiron Insurance Company, both part of Pharmacists Mutual, filed significant rate increases for their Commercial Auto Combinations programs in Texas. The February 25, 2026 filing is effective May 1, 2026, for new and renewal business and affects 76 Pharmacists policies ($458,621 in premium) and 191 Chiron policies ($1.79 million in premium).

The companies are requesting overall increases of 46.7% for Pharmacists and 46.5% for Chiron as part of a broader rate correction to align pricing more closely with ISO standards. The filing adopts updated ISO reference numbers and revises Loss Cost Multipliers, while also reducing prior business credits. To limit disruption, renewal increases will be capped at 30%.

The action follows recent rate hikes in 2024 and 2025 and reflects deteriorating performance – the company is significantly underpriced across all coverages. The total 5-year loss ratio is 137.7%, meaning they paid out $1.38 in claims for every $1 collected in premium.
