National Interstate, part of American Financial Group, has filed to introduce its OpenRoad Classic Auto Program in Florida, with a proposed effective date of December 1, 2026.

The private passenger auto program is based on Essentia Insurance Company’s Enthusiast Automobile Program, with adjustments for National Interstate’s expenses and coverage offering. The filing refers to Essentia’s program as the basis for its rules, rates, rating factors, and vehicle symbols.
OpenRoad will cover classic and collector vehicles but will exclude several options available through Essentia, including collector motorcycle, camper trailer, special build, foreign coverage, scheduled personal property, and Motorsports Advantage coverage.
The program will include $150 of towing and emergency roadside assistance coverage per vehicle and $1,000 of coverage for spare parts and tools. “Guaranteed Value” and “Cherished Salvage” have been renamed “Agreed Value” and “Retained Salvage,” respectively.
