IMT Targets Auto Rate Cuts in Illinois

IMT Insurance is lowering rates for its personal auto program in Illinois, with changes set to take effect August 1, 2026 for both new and renewal business.

The filing reflects a -9% overall rate impact, compared to a -13.4% indicated change, translating to a projected $1.07 million reduction in written premium across a book of about 5,158 policyholders and $11.9 million in premium.

The move follows IMT’s last revision in November 2025, when rates increased by 4%, signaling a reversal as the carrier adjusts pricing across its private passenger auto portfolio.
