Guardian has filed in New York an out-of-state form for its Automatic Claims Submission Rider. The filing, submitted on September 4, 2025 and closed on September 12, 2025, applies to certain group health coverages, including critical illness insurance.
The rider allows policyholders to elect an automated claims submission process. By monitoring a member’s use of medical providers, Guardian can identify qualifying events and initiate claims on the member’s behalf, issuing an explanation of benefits without requiring any action from the insured.
In cases where additional information is needed, Guardian will request details directly from the policyholder or their provider. Members may still submit claims manually through existing methods if an event is not automatically recognized. The rider also includes optional educational services around drug interactions and gaps in care.
Enrollment in the automatic submission feature can be made at the time of coverage or added later through Guardian’s website. Members may opt out at any time online or by sending a written request. The rider ends when coverage under the group policy terminates.
Guardian’s filing lists Matthew Darula, Head of Product, Strategy and Offerings, as the signatory for the rider.
