Georgia Auto Filings Point in Opposite Directions

Three personal auto rate filings submitted in Georgia on October 9 and October 12 show insurers taking different approaches: Dairyland’s Peak Property and Casualty is seeking a decrease, while Kemper’s Infinity Select and American Family Connect are requesting double-digit increases.

Peak, part of Sentry Insurance and underwriting for Dairyland, proposed an average 8.5% decrease for its active nonstandard auto program. The filing covers 1,335 policyholders and approximately $4.7 million in written premium, with an indicated decrease of 12.3%.

Beyond base rate changes, Peak is revising its liability adjustment factor and transfer discount, moving to ZIP code territory rating, and updating payment plan rules. It requested effective dates of November 23, 2026, for new business and December 7 for renewals.

Infinity Select proposed an average 12% increase for its Low Cost program, covering 1,939 policyholders and approximately $4.2 million in written premium. Its indicated increase is 16.8%.

The Kemper company’s proposal combines higher liability pricing with lower physical damage rates. Bodily injury rates would rise 16.3% and uninsured motorist bodily injury rates 18.2%, while comprehensive would decrease 20% and collision 6.3%. Requested effective dates are January 7, 2027, for new business and February 4 for renewals.

American Family Connect requested an average 11.7% increase, affecting 6,168 policies and approximately $18.2 million in written premium. Its indicated increase is 13.1%, with the largest proposed adjustment a 46.5% increase for uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage. Collision and comprehensive rates would remain unchanged.

The proposal follows an 11.9% increase effective August 10, 2026. American Family Connect requested a February 10, 2027, effective date for renewals.

Together, the filings suggest rate needs differ by book and coverage. Even the two insurers seeking overall increases are leaving physical damage rates unchanged or reducing them, while directing increases toward liability coverages.

All three filings were awaiting approval in the supplied records.
