Employers Files Excess Workers’ Comp Product for Florida Self-Insureds

Employers has filed to introduce an excess workers’ compensation and employers liability product in Florida. The coverage is intended for qualified self-insured employers, which pay claims up to a specified retention before excess coverage applies.

Employers requested a Dec. 1, 2026, effective date. A companion rate filing is under review, and the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation told the company that the forms cannot be used until the rate filing is approved.

The review has also narrowed the proposed forms. Following objections from the regulator, Employers agreed to withdraw an alternate employer endorsement and endorsements for limited Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act and Defense Base Act coverage.
