Berkshire Hathaway Direct Insurance Company has filed to replace its use of ISO rates and rules, together with a company exception manual, with a proprietary rating manual for its Florida businessowners program. The company will continue to use ISO policy forms.
The filing revises base loss costs, loss cost multipliers, the expense constant and several rating factors, including those tied to class, distance to coast, building age and prior claims. It also adds rating provisions for lessors coverage, contractors errors and omissions, bed bug, flood and Cyber Suite coverage.
The company says the underlying rules and rating calculations are largely the same apart from the listed additions. It requested effective dates of Jan. 1, 2027 for new business and Feb. 1, 2027 for renewals. The available filing text does not state an overall rate impact.
