Arch’s Event Ticket Coverage Filing Rejected

Arch Insurance Company’s attempt to introduce a new event cancellation insurance product in California has hit a roadblock. The insurer recently filed a new program called “Event-Experience-Ticket Protection,” which promises to reimburse customers for the cost of tickets to concerts, festivals, and other scheduled experiences if they can’t attend due to specific unforeseen events, such as illness, traffic accidents, or military obligations. The proposed coverage included both single-day and multi-day plans, with maximum benefits of up to $25,000 per experience.

However, California’s Department of Insurance rejected the filing at intake, citing that the rate portion of the submission was incomplete. Regulators noted that Arch labeled the submission as a rate, rule, and form filing but treated it like a new program without submitting the required exhibits and supporting documents. As a result, the filing was deemed not ready for review and sent back without prejudice, meaning Arch can revise and resubmit it.
