Benchmark Insurance is seeking approval to introduce the AMERIND Tribal Commercial Auto Program in California.

AMERIND Tribal Insurance Solutions will serve as managing general agent, while Benchmark will underwrite the policies. AMERIND is a federally chartered, multi-tribal corporation focused on providing insurance products to tribal governments and businesses.

Eligible vehicles include law-enforcement and fire vehicles, school buses, farm vehicles, service trucks, social-service vehicles, employee transportation and shuttles operated by hotels, casinos and tourist centers. The program will offer commercial auto liability, uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage, and physical damage coverage.

Liability limits will be available up to $1 million. Physical damage limits will reach $100,000 per private-passenger vehicle, light truck or SUV and $250,000 per bus or truck. For-hire trucking, taxis, rideshare, delivery vehicles and other commercial passenger operations will generally be excluded.

AMERIND is a newly established MGA and currently has no active policies. The program is modeled on a commercial auto program previously approved for Berkley’s StarNet Insurance Company.

Benchmark projects $761,875 in annual California premium, including $373,750 from liability coverage, $186,875 from uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage, and $201,250 from physical damage. The companies are requesting an October 1, 2026, launch.
