Accelerant is introducing a renters insurance product in Idaho, Georgia, Texas and California in partnership with Goodcover.

The Idaho filing was submitted on March 26, 2026, and is currently pending analyst review, with both new business and renewal effective dates set as “on approval.”

Goodcover, founded in 2017 and based in California, has raised $9.5 million and operates as a digital renters insurance provider. It is known for offering property insurance through Lyndon Southern Insurance Company and recently assumed the agent role for certain policies, taking over from MSI for renewals.

Strategically, Accelerant is launching a renters product built on ISO homeowners forms, supplemented with proprietary endorsements.

The coverage structure highlights several positioning choices aimed at renters and landlords. The product includes identity fraud expense coverage (up to $5,000), bed bug remediation with loss of use coverage, biohazard cleanup, and landlord-focused protections such as rental income coverage and pet damage coverage. It also introduces tighter underwriting boundaries, including a $10,000 sublimit on animal liability and stricter theft definitions requiring forcible entry and a police report.

Monthly automatic billing and installment structures further reinforce a digital-first, subscription-style approach.
