AAA introduced updates to its Illinois private passenger auto program effective July 1, 2026, for new and renewal business. The filing impacts payment plan rules, multi-policy discount wording, and territory tables, while carrying a neutral rate impact. The program covers 5,880 policyholders and approximately $13 million in written premium.
Under the revised payment plan rules, applicants who do not qualify for Category 1 or 2 prior insurance factors must enroll in AAA Auto Pay for the 5-pay plan. The monthly pay plan down payment requirement was reduced from 20% to 16.67%, although higher-risk applicants must still submit 25% down and enroll in Auto Pay. The filing also adds language stating that policies issued without the required Auto Pay authorization will have their credit number changed to 999.
AAA also revised its multi-policy discount rule. The company clarified that if an associated homeowners, condominium, or renters policy is canceled or nonrenewed, the auto policy discount will be removed midterm.
The filing further updates territory factor and territory definition tables, removing territories and ZIP codes where the company no longer writes business while adding ZIP code 63673 to align with its homeowners product. Despite a 7.8% indicated rate need referenced in the actuarial memorandum, AAA selected a 0% rate increase as it continues monitoring claim severity, frequency, and driving trends.
