Swyfft Seeks Homeowners Rate Decrease in Texas

Swyfft, through Benchmark Insurance Company, has filed for a 9% overall rate decrease for its Texas homeowners program.

The filing affects 33,058 policyholders and approximately $136.1 million in written premium, producing an estimated premium reduction of $12.2 million. Individual changes range from a 13.9% decrease to a 1% increase, with all but three policyholders receiving a reduction. The changes are effective August 11, 2026, for new business and September 15, 2026, for renewals.

Swyfft’s actuarial indication called for a 9.2% decrease, and the selected change will be implemented through adjustments to by-peril base rates. This is the program’s second consecutive decrease following a 10% reduction in December 2025. Before the two decreases, Swyfft implemented several increases, including 22% in 2023, 5.5% and 13.5% in 2024, and changes of 6% and 1.3% in 2025.
