PMA Companies is updating its collectors insurance program in Virginia, broadening coverage and increasing rates by an average of 2.9%.
The program covers collectible dealers, owners of large collections and businesses shipping valuable items, including coins, watches, jewelry, antiques and art. The revised forms expand the types of eligible property and accommodate more contemporary shipping methods and scenarios.
PMA is also revising shipping, collectible-dealer and large-collection rates, which were last updated about six years ago. Changes include new international-exposure charges, revised vault rates and additional shipping limits. The program will offer up to $50 million of coverage through a new $48.5 million excess layer above the initial $1.5 million.
The filing affects eight Virginia policyholders representing about $101,000 in written premium. Individual rate changes range from 0.5% to 4.8%, while increases during the transition will be capped at 10%.
The changes are expected to take effect September 1, 2026. PMA Companies is part of Old Republic.
