THORE Enters Texas with New Homeowners Program

The Homeowners Reciprocal Exchange (THORE) is introducing its Premier HO Program in Texas, marking the company’s entrance into the state’s homeowners market. The filing, submitted on July 8, 2025, outlines underwriting guidelines effective July 11, 2025, for both new and renewal business.

Prepared by Pinnacle Actuarial Resources, the guidelines emphasize a “common sense” approach, targeting well-maintained, owner-occupied homes insured to replacement cost. The program offers Texas HO-A Plus policies, providing replacement cost coverage on dwelling and personal property, with actual cash value applied to roofs over 10 years old. Homes up to 30 years old are eligible for binding, while older homes require review. Coverage A is capped at $750,000, and the minimum premium is $400.

“These guidelines contain information to underwrite Premier HO-A+ homeowners insurance. You will find we take a very common sense approach to underwriting. We will write homes insured to replacement cost that show pride in ownership and are properly maintained. The information in this guideline is provided to answer your questions about our processes and underwriting policies with THORE. Of course, you can always give us a call and we will be happy to assist you!”

This filing does not include rate changes but lays the groundwork for THORE’s underwriting practices in the state.
