TDIC Removes Credit Card Fee in California

The Dentists Insurance Company has filed a rule change in California to remove its $30 convenience fee for credit card payments under its professional and dental business liability program.

The insurer has contracted with a third-party payment processor that will offer policyholders one-time ACH payments at no charge and handle credit card payments. TDIC will no longer collect a credit card fee, although the payment processor will charge one when a policyholder elects to pay by card.

The change does not affect TDIC’s payment plans, underwriting guidelines or insurance rates. It is scheduled to take effect on October 1, 2026, for new and renewal business, subject to regulatory approval.

The filing is pending state action.
