Star Insurance Company, part of AF Group, has filed a new commercial property program in California, seeking a February 1, 2027 effective date.
Submitted November 2, the filing would establish a broader, standardized offering for new business as Star moves beyond its existing program-specific approach. AF Group acquired Star as part of its 2023 AmeriTrust acquisition.
The company says existing program-specific filings would continue to support renewal business while it reviews them for potential revisions. The new filing has no rate impact on existing policyholders.
The proposed program adopts ISO commercial property forms, rates and rules, alongside proprietary endorsements for commercial property enhancements and equipment breakdown coverage.
Star proposes a property loss cost multiplier of 1.06. Its optional property enhancement endorsement would cost $300 per location, capped at $1,500 per policy.
Optional equipment breakdown coverage would address mechanical breakdown, electrical damage, steam explosions and electronic circuitry impairment. Coverage extensions include data restoration, spoilage, service interruption, mobile robots and certain resulting losses from cyber events. Business income and extra expense coverage would also extend to equipment breakdown when included in the underlying commercial property policy.
The filing remained assigned and in intake, with no approval recorded in the documents reviewed.
