Preferred Mutual Aligns New Jersey BOP Forms With New Policy System

Preferred Mutual Insurance Company has filed a broad forms update for its Businessowners program in New Jersey, tied to the rollout of a new policy administration system. The filing, submitted January 16, 2026, is forms-only to speed review, with rate and rule changes to follow separately.

The update focuses on operational readiness rather than pricing. Preferred Mutual is retiring legacy forms, adopting select ISO BP-2023-OPCD language, revising existing endorsements, and adding new forms to better fit system and marketing requirements. The company notes that formatting may change to accommodate system and printing needs, while approved policy language remains unchanged.

The transition is staged, with new business targeted for October 1, 2026, and renewals moving over January 1, 2027.

As part of the refresh, Preferred Mutual updates several bundled endorsements, including BOP Advantage, Food Advantage, Contractor Advantage, Medical Offices, Pet Services, Food Truck, Service Line, Equipment Breakdown, and Cyber. The enhancements expand coverage options such as business income extensions, off-premises property, utility services, water back-up, spoilage, fine arts, identity fraud expense, and employee dishonesty—bringing the BOP offering in line with current agent and small commercial expectations.
