Orange Launches Florida Homeowners Program With Wind Credits

Orange Insurance Exchange is introducing its Aeternum homeowners program in Florida, submitting a rate and rule filing that outlines how premiums will adjust when wind and hail coverage is excluded.

At the core of the program is a territorial credit structure tied to wind risk. Policyholders who exclude wind and hail coverage can receive substantial premium reductions, with estimated average credits varying widely by county—from roughly 30% in lower-risk areas like Duval County to more than 80% in high-risk regions such as Monroe County.

The credits are based on Citizens Property Insurance Corporation’s wind-only territory definitions, anchoring the methodology to an established benchmark used across the Florida market.

Orange Insurance Exchange was founded in 2023 and is led by CEO Don Matz, former CEO of Producer’s National Corporation and president of Tower Hill Insurance Group.

Strategically, the filing highlights a continued shift in Florida’s homeowners market toward modular coverage structures, where wind is increasingly carved out, priced independently, or transferred to alternative mechanisms.
