Oklahoma to Examine Homeowners Insurance Market Competitiveness

The Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner will hold a public hearing to determine whether the state’s homeowners insurance market is noncompetitive.

The hearing is scheduled for September 14, 2026, at 9 a.m. at the Oklahoma State Capitol in Oklahoma City. It will be conducted before an independent hearing examiner.

Property and casualty insurers writing homeowners insurance in Oklahoma and other parties with a direct and substantial interest may present evidence and arguments. Those wishing to participate must submit an appearance to OIDlegal@oid.ok.gov.

The proceeding will focus on the competitiveness of the overall market. It will not examine whether individual insurers’ rates are excessive or address claims-related disputes.
