Mississippi Farm Bureau Updates Auto Rating Methodology

Mississippi Farm Bureau Casualty Insurance Company filed a rating update in Mississippi on January 14, 2026, seeking approval to replace its Vehicle History Score rating factor with mileage based measures. The changes apply to new business and renewals beginning May 15, 2026.

Under the filing, the insurer will move to using Confirmed Annual Mileage or, where verified data is not available, Customer Reported Annual Mileage. The company said the change is intended to improve transparency by relying on actual mileage inputs rather than converting driving behavior into a composite score.

The new mileage factors are set equal to the existing Vehicle History Score factors, resulting in a zero percent cumulative rate impact. Mississippi Farm Bureau also noted that to limit disruption for policyholders, any mileage related adjustments will be phased in evenly across two six month renewal cycles.

The filing implies the use of systems capable of obtaining verified mileage data, with customer reported mileage serving as an interim input until confirmation is available.
