MedPro and Wellfleet Expand Cyber Coverage in Georgia BOP Update

The Medical Protective Company and Wellfleet Insurance Company, both part of Berkshire Hathaway, are updating their BOP Policy rules in Georgia following the initial rollout of the product.

The filing was submitted on March 28, 2026, with a requested effective date of May 1, 2026 for both new and renewal business. There is no rate impact, as the product currently has no policyholders or written premium in the state.

A notable part of the update is the expansion and clarification of cyber coverage. The office cyber endorsement introduces both first-party protection, such as business interruption, cyber extortion, and data recovery, and third-party liability tied to data breaches and regulatory exposure. A separate healthcare-focused cyber endorsement adds coverage for privacy liability, crisis management, and fraud-related costs.

At the same time, the companies are tightening exclusions. A cyber incident liability exclusion and a data privacy law exclusion are now required across policies, alongside an economic sanctions endorsement applied universally.

Overall, the filing is not about pricing or growth but about structure. MedPro and Wellfleet are refining the foundation of the BOP product, aligning forms, endorsements, and cyber components before building scale in Georgia.
