Independence Pet Insurance, part of JAB, has filed updated rates in Alabama for its pet insurance program, with both new business and renewals set to take effect July 1, 2026. The filing was submitted on January 14, 2026.
The submission updates rates to be used alongside previously approved policy forms and is structured as a “me too” filing for the PPI – IPIC 008 rate set, replacing an earlier version. While policyholder counts and premium impact were not disclosed for this specific filing, the company’s managing general agency is authorized to write up to $100 million in premium per state, with the exception of Maryland.
The program is managed by PetPartners (another JAB company) and distributed through veterinary clinics, shelters, rescues, and certified breeders, including programs affiliated with American Kennel Club and Cat Fanciers’ Association.
From a rating perspective, the filing introduces a simplified rating methodology that applies weighted averages across geographic area, pet age, and breed factors. Coverage is available for dogs and cats of all ages, with plan options including Accident & Illness and Accident Only, as well as optional benefits such as ExamCare and InheritedPlus.
Discounts are offered for multi-pet households and certain business or affinity groups.
